SERAX Vaginal Cream contains Sertaconazole Nitrate 2% w/w, a third-generation imidazole antifungal agent indicated for the local treatment of vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC). Sertaconazole exhibits both fungistatic and fungicidal activity against Candida species and provides rapid relief from common symptoms such as itching, burning, irritation, and vaginal discomfort. Its unique benzothiophene structure enhances lipophilicity and tissue retention, allowing prolonged antifungal activity at the site of infection. // SERAX Vaginal Cream is indicated for: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (Vaginal yeast infection), Candida albicans infections, Recurrent vaginal fungal infections, Vulvar itching and irritation associated with fungal infection, Mixed vulvovaginal fungal conditions as advised by a physician. // Sertaconazole acts through a dual mechanism: Inhibits ergosterol synthesis, disrupting fungal cell membrane formation.
Directly binds to fungal membrane lipids, increasing membrane permeability and causing fungal cell death. This dual activity provides both fungistatic and fungicidal effects. //Key Benefits – Broad-spectrum antifungal activity, Rapid relief from itching and burning, High local concentration at infection site, Minimal systemic absorption, Excellent vaginal tolerability, Effective against Candida species including resistant strains, Long-lasting antifungal action, Convenient local therapy. // Clinical Advantages ; Demonstrated high clinical and mycological cure rates in vulvovaginal candidiasis, Faster symptom relief compared with certain conventional azole therapies, Excellent safety profile with very low incidence of local irritation, Negligible systemic absorption reduces risk of systemic adverse effects.
